  • Get to know stylist:

I graduated beauty school in 2006. This year will be 15 years of hair... 😳😳.  After years of traditional schooling ( which honestly is just not my favorite) I’m glad I jumped on this path . I say jump because most who know me, know that I just jump in. Sometimes without much planning but I can say it’s mostly worked out. The creativity I couldn’t put down on paper or on a canvas I have discovered through hairstyling. 2016, I had been on year 5 of styling in my own space and realized I needed to make another change. I couldn’t go to work every day worried about the impact the products were having on the health of my clients, my coworkers and myself. A lifelong friend and stylist from NY, where I grew up, recommended OWAY. I haven’t looked back. I love it!

  • Training:

Empire Beauty School, OWAY color training & certification. BTC Balayage Training.

  • Favorite product:

Absolutely can’t style hair without OWAY Sculpting Mist ( non aerosol hair spray)

  • Favorite service:

I used to love a good ol’ full foil highlight but balayage is becoming my new love ❤️ I really enjoy cutting any kind of bob.

  • Stylist tip/ trick:

For thin limp hair ( like mine) over direct the hair while blow drying first, then spray some sculpting mist or texture spray on your fingers and work it into your roots.

  • Something you want people to know about yourself:

I have three boys who are my world 🥰

Courtney Whipple

Lancaster Salon Manager/Stylist

  • Training:

    Lancaster School of Cosmetology

    DevaCurl Academy

Wig styling and maintenance training from  Charles LaPointe, Paul Huntley and The MET hair/wig department; professional theatrical wig makers, NYC

  • Favorite product:

So many to choose from with OWAY, and they all smell amazing because of the essential oils used within.  My go-to is the Glossy Nectar, I use it in all my non-curly clients’ hair, wet or dry.  I put it in everyone’s wet hair before blow drying as a heat protectant; because it’s an oil rather than an alcohol-based spray, the hair absorbs the oil and the moisture from the water into the hair rather than the water evaporating with the alcohol when heat is applied.  I love the soft natural finish of the hair when dried. I also put Glossy Nectar in dry hair to tame flyaways or add a little finishing sheen.

  • Favorite service:

Honestly, I like them all, I’d get bored doing just one thing, but probably the most satisfying from a making-people-happy perspective is showing a young person who has struggled with their frizzy, unruly hair just how beautiful their natural texture is by using curl friendly products and incorporating WATER!! The sparkle in their eyes, and their tentative smiles are everything! And from an artistic perspective,  there’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of a perfect balayage blend or the excitement of a new fashion color look 🤗  🤗

  • Stylist tip/ trick:

Water is everything!  Humans are made of 60% water, our hair less so, but by adding water into your conditioner (one with quality ingredients like OWAY works best) and leaving some in your hair rather than rinsing to squeaky clean, is the BEST trick for soft, healthy, nourished and hydrated hair.  And it’s less wasteful: add the natural resource to dilute your conditioner,  buy less (usually plastic encased) products that you don’t really need.

  • Something you want people to know about yourself:

It sounds corny but I’m in this to help people.  I like creating pretty things as much as the next person, but I consider my job as a stylist as a partnership with my clients.  It’s my job to make my client’s vision for themselves come true, and also make sure it will work for them in the real world, practical for their lifestyle. Or help them find their vision, I’m good either way 😊

To say I've been doing hair a long time is an understatement. My first haircut was on my sister

when I was in 6th grade. Since then she's had it cut twice by someone else. I graduated head of my class from cosmetology school at Mt. Joy vo-tech in 1987. I passed my boards in December my senior year of high school and was working full time prior to graduation. In 1991 I started my own business, at the current Mt. Joy salon, with my partner Leith Leed. There was a slight case of deja vu returning nearly 15yrs later.

  • Training:

    Cosmetology school 1987

    Mt. Joy vo-tech

    Theatrical hair/make up 1991

    Completions Int.

    Make-up educator with Graham

Webb from 2001-2005 Tressa perm master certificate

  • Favorite product:

Flux. Love it for it's soft hold and ability to mix with other products like glossy nectar and curly

    potion

  • Favorite service:

Absolutely love giving perms. I graduated in the 80's. What can I say?

  • Stylist tip/ trick:

Most people don't know what the cold air button is for on their blow dryers. They're used to

set the hair in place once it's dry. Ex: while using a round brush, dry hair completely, the heat makes hair pliable, hit with a shot of cold air and your style will stay in place.

  • Something you want people to know about yourself:

I style wigs for major productions at local theaters and I'm a member of the local 98 Union

    through Hershey theater.

  • Get to know stylist:

I’ve always wanted to be a hairstylist.  I love what I do!  I have three teenagers and a dog.

  • Training:

Empire Beauty School, Continuing education in curly hair, balayage, color corrections and client education.

  • Favorite product:

In general I LOVE  OWAY Smoothing Fluid.  It not only smells amazing but it decreases dry time, frizz and gives an amazing shine and silkiness to your finished look. For my curly girls, I like to cocktail OWAY Frozen Glaze and OWAY Curly Potion for a frizzless soft curl.

  • Favorite service:

Curls & Color!  Give me a curly haired girl with a full balayage and baby light and I’m all in!

  • Stylist tip/ trick:

I’m a curly girl so I’ve been working with curls my whole life. Once you style those curls... don’t touch! That’s why frizz is a huge complaint with curls. There doesn’t have to be frizz. With the right products, education and styling method.

I do have a passion for educating my clients while I am servicing them, from the products I use to the at home techniques. I like my clients to know how to achieve the exact style they want.

  • Something you want people to know about yourself:

My kids(and my Boston Terrier Georgia) are the most important things in my life, they drive me to be the best I can be.  I lead a healthy lifestyle and enjoy working out often, I love the beach and get there as often as possible, I like to shop (especially for shoes).

  • Favorite product:

Oway Glossy Nectar because it makes the hair silky smooth & ridiculously shiny

  • Favorite service:

Every service. Any way I can help the person achieve how they want the world to perceive them.

  • Stylist tip/ trick:

Pinch & twist pieces of hair after applying paste/fiber/spray to achieve ultimate texture.

  • Something you want people to know about yourself:

I'm happy to do all sorts of styles with hair whether it be conservative or edgy. I always say "Hair is just an Illusion" because it is always possible for you to achieve the look of the kind of hair you desire.
